| “Peggy’s captivating singing and composing shines through in spirituality and in faith.” Lois Howard, Award Winning Writer and Poet “You are gifting us all with your art, manifesting God’s beauty, God’s gift…it reveals the Divine.” Rev. Francis Gargani "People love the depth of spirituality that she brings to the music." Pastor Mark Dahle Known for her sincere and inspiring performances, Peggy Mira’s singing reaches right into the heart. Peggy began her private vocal studies while in high school. She was in various performance choirs travelling overseas, performing in summer stock and in her church. She went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Music in Voice and Theatre from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She earned scholarships during her studies and performed in their renowned Gilbert and Sullivan summer operettas. During this time she performed classical art song in several languages, opera, and operetta. After moving to San Diego she began performing in churches in both traditional and contemporary styles. “My college vocal coach advised me that someday I would have to choose between contemporary or pop and opera. The choice was easy. Although I enjoy the challenge of singing classical music my heart is with contemporary music.“ Peggy is also a private music teacher for both piano and voice. She encourages her students in their ability to speak and perform publicly. Music therapy techniques are incorporated into their monthly performances at local assisted living communities. She has written, arranged and produced her first CD, entitled In This Place. The CD is one of inspirational music comprised of six originals and her own arrangements of the well-known hymns, “Amazing Grace” and “Be Thou My Vision”. In This Place can be found on cdbaby, and on various music sites including iTunes. |
